Hypercat ACP Eyes Growth With Move to Larger Plant

WEST CHESTER, PA--(Marketwire - February 21, 2011) - Hypercat Advanced Catalyst Products (Hypercat ACP), a subsidiary of Metalico, Inc. (NYSE Amex: MEA), is relocating to a new, larger facility in order to accommodate expanded manufacturing capabilities, enhanced R&D laboratory initiatives, additional staff and provide capacity for future growth.

The move will more than double existing square footage, providing for expanded production capabilities and streamlined logistics. David Johnston, Vice President of Operations, added, "Not only are we increasing our capacity and adding new technology, but we are excited about the opportunity to re-design our process flow which will significantly enhance efficiency."

Hypercat ACP manufactures emissions control catalysts to meet requirements for hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide reduction across a variety of markets such as automotive aftermarket, mobile and stationary engines (gasoline and diesel), industrial processes, small engines and marine. Its unique combination of traditional catalyst technology and innovative nanotechnology for emissions control, in addition to precious metal refining for end-of-life catalyst recovery, strategically positions the company to address the needs of various industries by providing products and services from start to finish.

According to Gerry Smith, Hypercat's President, "One of our competitive advantages has been our ability to swiftly adapt to meet the needs of our customers as a result of emerging regulations. For instance, the RICE NESHAP Rules (Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines - National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) require not only catalyst technology for carbon monoxide oxidation for compliance, but site engineering and design in order to retrofit existing power installations across the country and Hypercat is positioned to meet those requirements."

Through development programs, optimization studies, continuous improvement, and its employees' extensive background and experience, Hypercat designs unique catalyst solutions while demonstrating superior customer service with one of the best turnaround times in the industry. Additional Hypercat capabilities include catalyst system integration, engineering services, laboratory testing, equipment design, and coatings.

Hypercat ACP is the trade name of Hypercat Coating Limited Liability Company, a subsidiary of Metalico, Inc. Metalico currently operates twenty-six recycling facilities in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Texas, and Mississippi and four lead fabricating plants in Alabama, Illinois, and California. Metalico's common stock is traded on the NYSE Amex under the symbol MEA.
