HyperTransport Consortium Discusses Benefits of Combining HyperShare Technology With Ethernet

Speaks at Ethernet Technology Summit for the First Time

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - February 22, 2011) -

The HyperTransport Technology Consortium will present "Enabling Global Resource Sharing in an Ethernet Environment" in an afternoon session at the Ethernet Technology Summit. The discussion will focus on the open-standard HyperShare technology platform, which has the potential to substantially reduce the cost of deploying large-scale, Ethernet-based data centers. Attendees will learn how HyperShare technology brings new capabilities to an Ethernet platform, including global resource sharing which makes all cluster resources hardware-virtualized and sharable among nodes. As a result, it empowers organizations to make their data centers significantly leaner in hardware resources -- no redundancy, no over-provisioning -- and with a proportionally lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Mario Cavalli, General Manager, HyperTransport Consortium

The Ethernet Technology Summit takes place February 23-24, Santa Clara Marriott, Santa Clara, California.

About Ethernet Technology Summit
Ethernet Technology Summit focuses on the latest advances in Ethernet technology, particularly the new specifications for 40/100 GbE, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), and energy efficient Ethernet. It features the latest information on these advances from the experts who are developing the specifications and designing the initial products for them. It is a must-attend conference for those who are deciding whether to use the new specifications or design products for them or are in the initial stages of product design. The Summit also covers 10 GbE, Data Center Ethernet, carrier Ethernet, power-over-Ethernet, Ethernet security, Ethernet management, backplane Ethernet, and Ethernet chipsets. The Silicon Valley's premier event focused on Ethernet also includes an expert table session, a market research session, and a customer review session. For more information, visit

About the HyperTransport™ Technology Consortium
The HyperTransport Technology Consortium is a membership-based, non-profit organization that licenses, manages and promotes HyperTransport Technology. HyperTransport technology is at the heart of the HyperShare platform, an entirely new approach to data center and high-performance cluster design. The platform enables global resource sharing, providing the cost, power savings, performance, flexibility and scalability needed for tomorrow's data center, cluster and cloud computing environments. Founded in 2001, the Consortium hosts a strong ecosystem of members that includes technology leaders, start ups and academia licensing the royalty-free use of HyperTransport technology and intellectual property.
