HypoVereinsbank Protects Information Assets, Improves Risk Management With e-Security

Improved Visibility and Control of Security Environment Enables Real-Time Detection and Response

VIENNA, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 30, 2005 -- e-Security, the leading supplier of security information management and compliance monitoring solutions, announced today that HypoVereinsbank, the second largest listed private-sector bank in Germany, is using e-Security's Sentinel product suite to gain the visibility and control required to manage their security environment more effectively, detect and respond to security incidents faster and more efficiently, and reduce the risk of attack on their critical IT assets.

Although HypoVereinsbank had many preventive measures installed, including firewalls, antivirus software, and vulnerability scanners, the financial institution required a more effective mechanism to aggregate and analyze the wealth of log data generated from their diverse IT environment, as well as their many disparate devices. "Manual log consolidation and analysis was not an effective method for uncovering security threats," said Werner Obermeier, Director of IT Design for HypoVereinsbank. "Additionally, we were looking to enhance our ability for correlating these events to improve threat determination and response."

"With e-Security's Sentinel, we are using automation to detect security incidents more effectively. We now have a central view of our global environment and can more accurately and quickly analyze the overwhelming amount of data coming from multiple information sources. e-Security enables us to quickly prioritize and respond to threats based on the appropriate risk levels.

"e-Security's comprehensive correlation capabilities enable us to analyze and automate the detection of security incidents across all relevant systems and devices. The visibility and control we get from e-Security really helps us protect our information assets and reduce our risk.

"e-Security gives us the combination of out-of-the-box capabilities and the flexibility we need to ensure our specific requirements are met," added Mr. Obermeier. "For example, we use off-the-shelf agents from e-Security and build our own agents using Sentinel's Agent Manager, which enables us to address our proprietary systems and other devices."

HypoVereinsbank uses e-Security to protect its information assets across the globe in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

"HypoVereinsbank is an excellent example of how our customers rely on e-Security to protect their mission critical information assets and further reduce their risk," said Chuck Teubner, e-Security's CEO. "Our expanding customer base, proven track record, and great momentum further demonstrate our commitment to delivering leading solutions, services and support to our customers across the world."

"We are extremely happy with e-Security and the Sentinel product suite," said Mr. Obermeier. "We believe e-Security has the market-leading product with excellent support in our local languages. We are expanding our use of Sentinel today and plan to the address the application layer in our environment, including Oracle® and SAP® applications. Incorporating these applications into our security strategy is very straightforward with e-Security's Sentinel."
