iStreamPlanet Announces Official Integration of Microsoft Silverlight Rough Cut Editor (RCE) Into Its Video Workflow Automation Platform (VWAP)

iStreamPlanet's Customers Are Already Using Silverlight RCE Along With Its VWAP to Edit and Deliver Live and On-Demand Content More Efficiently and With Greater Impact

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) -  iStreamPlanet announced today it has officially integrated Microsoft Silverlight Rough Cut Editor (RCE) into its Video Workflow Automation Platform (VWAP), an end-to-end, cloud-based platform designed to enable linear or ad-hoc broadcasters, content creators, or anyone with a large number of events or multiple channels to automatically schedule, provision and publish content to multiple screen experiences, including desktop, IPTV and mobile. The Video Workflow Automation Platform (VWAP) was responsible for helping power the online coverage of NBC's and CTV's online 2010 Winter Olympics broadcasts. Now, with the full integration of Silverlight RCE, iStreamPlanet's customers can edit live and on-demand video content, manage metadata such as play-by-play, do on-demand advertisement insertion and publish through the VWAP.

"What is exciting to us, is the ability to do something such as create highlights from live content and publish without having to use an expensive editing system and then transcode the content," said Bhavesh Upadhyaya, Vice President of Operations, iStreamPlanet. "By integrating Silverlight RCE into our Video Workflow Automation Platform, our customers have the most powerful end-to-end solution for automatically scheduling, provisioning, publishing and now editing live and on-demand content on the market."

Prior to the release of Silverlight RCE, publishers were forced to wait until a live event was finished before using an expensive editing system to create clips and then transcode for on-demand play. This was both time-consuming and ultimately more costly due to the required system, man hours and time to get the content online before it could be monetized. iStreamPlanet is taking advantage of Silverlight RCE to enable publishers to edit live content and publish automatically on the fly. Additionally, taking advantage of Silverlight RCE enabling metadata management during live events, iStreamPlanet allows its customers to create markers within live events such as highlights and play-by-play for sporting events.

"Microsoft was proud to work with iStreamPlanet in order to help bring the 2010 Winter Olympics to online fans through the U.S. and Canada with Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming," said Gabriele Di Piazza, managing director for the Media & Entertainment business in the Communications Sector at Microsoft Corp. "With its support of Silverlight Rough Cut Editor, iStreamPlanet is proving once again to be a company that put all the power of the latest technology in the hands of its customers to provide a truly end-to-end solution."
