IABC/Toronto and CCNMatthews to Present Seminar on Evaluating Communication Tactics

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 12, 2006) - The Toronto Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Toronto) and CCNMatthews are pleased to present "Measuring the Value of Communications", an evening seminar which focuses on the measurement of oral delivery, media relations and other tactics.

The seminar will take a comprehensive look at the evaluation challenges which every communicator faces. A panel of experts will discuss insights on tools, approaches and best practices for measuring the value of face-to-face communications, media relations and other tactics employed by communicators to deliver key messages.

The panel of experts includes:

Marianne Gobeil, APR - As founding partner of Leading Communicators Inc., Marianne Gobeil helps ensure her clients are heard every time they speak. She led the development of Speakcheck(R), believed to be the first diagnostic that quantitatively measures the effectiveness of speeches and presentations and the degree to which they fulfill a leader's strategic purpose. For the past nine years, Marianne ran Media Sage Inc. where she provided strategic communications counsel to senior level clients in the corporate and political arenas, which included coaching hundreds of senior executives and politicians.

Andrew Laing - During the last 15 years, Andrew built Cormex into Canada's leading media analysis company. As a pioneer in introducing standards and measures for public relations and communications in this country, Andrew has developed ongoing media measurement studies for hundreds of Canada's leading private, public and non-profit organizations.

Debbie King - As Executive Vice-President and a founding partner of ZenithOptimedia, Debbie is widely recognized as one of Canada's pre-eminent media and marketing researchers. Debbie's role in advancing media research, planning, and buying professionals in Canada is reflected by her contributions as Vice-Chair of the Board of the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement (BBM), Member of the PMB Board of Directors and past Chair of the Research Committee.

Rachel M. Douglas - As Communications Manager for Cara Operations, a 40,000-employee company that owns the popular brands Swiss Chalet, Harvey's, Second Cup, Kelsey's, Montana's and Milestone's, Rachel is responsible for internal communications, crisis and issues management, brand reputation, proactive PR and investor relations. Rachel's previous experience in the high-tech industry includes 724 Solutions and Corel Corporation. Rachel will discuss her role in creating the new Media Relations Rating Points (MRP(TM)) system and present case studies on the system in action.

Betty Alexander (moderator) - Betty's approach to public relations is based on achieving measurable results that support clients' marketing objectives. Before founding Xposure PR Inc. in 1997, she was one of the founding directors of the Advanced Technology Practice at Hill and Knowlton.
