IAGC Launches Geophysics Rocks Website at 73rd Annual EAGE

VIENNA, AUSTRIA--(Marketwire - May 24, 2011) - The International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) announced today that it has launched a new website, www.geophysicsrocks.com, following an International debut at the 73rd annual European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) conference and tradeshow in Vienna, Austria. The launch is part of a global communications initiative announced in November, 2010.

The new site was unveiled to thousands of attendees when more than 20 participating IAGC members played a dynamic video touting the benefits of geophysical technology simultaneously during the opening night reception at the EAGE conference. The video was then made available for download via 2D barcode, in every booth that aired it. The new site provides information on how the geophysical service sector utilizes seismic and other geophysical technologies to enable safe, smart and productive oil and gas extraction to occur with a more complete understanding of the conditions in the earth's interior, all while reducing risk. IAGC intends that the site will become a key resource for those wanting to have a better understanding about the geophysical industry.

"We're very pleased that we can finally announce the site to the public and EAGE was the perfect place to do it," said Chip Gill, President, IAGC. "We are thrilled to see our efforts come to fruition and we feel certain the site will serve as a valuable tool -- for those in the Geophysical industry who want to share the site with family and friends, but more importantly to those with no knowledge, who want to educate themselves on how geophysical technology helps reduce risk for oil and gas exploration and production."

These efforts are aimed at reminding governments and the public of the importance of oil and gas in our daily lives and to educate on how geophysical technologies reduce risk and can increase safety and decrease environmental impact of oil and gas exploration and production.

IAGC is the international trade association representing the industry that provides geophysical services (geophysical data acquisition, seismic data ownership and licensing, geophysical data processing and interpretation, and associated service and product providers) to the oil and gas industry.
