IBC's Drug Discovery & Development of Innovative Therapeutics India Conference to Feature New Track Devoted to Clinical Trials in India

WESTBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - August 23, 2007) - IBC announced today that its Drug Discovery & Development of Innovative Therapeutics India will feature two conference tracks: "Discovery to Innovation" and "Clinical Trials in India." Each track will include case studies from Western companies who have operations in India or have developed successful partnerships, such as AstraZeneca, Targacept, and Pfizer. "Clinical Trials in India" is a new addition to the program this year.

The conference will be held October 10-12, 2007 in Hyderabad, India. On the program this year are sessions focusing on emerging trends in biotechnology and what's coming up next in Indian biotechnology, as well as future trends and opportunities in this expanding market. There will be 50 speakers, including two keynote speakers:

-- "The Preclinical Development Challenge: Managing Pipeline Flow"
Richard Tillyer, Ph.D., Merck & Co., Inc.
-- "Integration of Commercial, Discovery and Development: Medicinal
    Products of Differentiated Value"
    Rajinder Kumar, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories

"The number of Western companies conducting clinical trials in India on their own or through partners has been increasing steadily as a result of a concerted effort by the Indian government to promote India as a destination for clinical trials," said Michael Keenan, Project Manager and Producer, IBC Conferences. "The recently announced tax exemption on conducting clinical trials in India is encouraging many more Western companies to seriously consider India as part of their global R&D effort. This year's conference includes an entire track on 'Clinical Trials in India' to highlight the day-to-day experiences, opportunities and challenges of conducting clinical trials in India," said Keenan.
