IBM-Based Assisted Selling Solution Makes Dollars From "Scents" at Nordstrom

Scentsa™ Fragrance Finder Places the World of Fragrance at the Shopper's Fingertips

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 15, 2007 -- An innovative assisted selling solution arrived this past fall at 14 Nordstrom fragrance counters in Southern California. Since then, Scentsa Fragrance Finder has been making fragrance selection easier and more fun for shoppers and the Nordstrom fragrance advisors who assist them.

Scentsa resolves retailers' biggest problem: customer confusion. The sheer number of fragrances is overwhelming with nearly 500 new entries added in the latest year.

Scentsa contains current information on more than 6,000 fragrance nameplates, and easily connects a shopper's fragrance interest to an in-store solution. Scentsa clarifies options and reduces clutter.

Embedded within Scentsa is Michael Edwards' industry-standard fragrance classification system and the cumulative impact of his seminal "Fragrances of the World," now in its 23rd annual edition. Jan Moran, author of "Fabulous Fragrances," further contributes to Scentsa with her "insider" fragrance reviews, plus fragrance matches based on lifestyle, occasion and interest.

Scentsa is simply compelling. It actively engages each fragrance client while at the counter and determined to make a purchase.

Scentsa is modular and easily tailored to support each retailer's image and marketing priorities. From logo and artwork to content selection, Scentsa is easily customized for each retail environment in which it is deployed. Scentsa also provides a new vehicle for facilitating relationships with fragrance vendors. Both customer-facing and sales associate versions are available.

Scentsa is deployed on plug-and-play IBM Anyplace™ Kiosks with touchscreen displays that provide spectacular image quality and deliver consistent performance and reliability. Seamark International's SpacePole™ mountings complete the solution by enabling 270° access on an elegant, space-efficient platform.

Scentsa was designed and built using Apunix self-service platform and design tools. Apunix Computer Services is a leading provider of assisted selling applications with offices in San Diego, CA.

California-based Crescent House Publishing LLC creates and distributes Scentsa to retailers in North America. Michael Edwards & Co. oversees European and Australian distribution.
