IBM Distinguished Engineer Joins Brightidea.com

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 15, 2007) - Brightidea.com, the leader in Innovation Pipeline Management (IPM) software, announced today that Luis Ostdiek has joined the company as executive vice president of Technology. Mr. Ostdiek joins Brightidea.com from IBM where he was the youngest-ever technologist to be named a Distinguished Engineer. While at IBM, he served as chairman of the Architecture Board and worked closely with eBay and Linden Labs, the creators of Second Life. At Brightidea.com, Mr. Ostdiek will oversee the Advanced Technology and Infrastructure Groups, while working closely with a rapidly expanding list of nearly 300 customers.

"What drew me from IBM to Brightidea.com was its rapid customer adoption, its huge lead on the market and it is a place where technology is truly transforming the process of innovation," said Luis Ostdiek, executive vice president, Technology, Brightidea.com. "IBM knows how critical innovation has become, but views it as a consulting opportunity. At Brightidea.com, we're employing Web 2.0 and social networking tools to increase the velocity of the innovation process for our customers."

During his eleven-year tenure at IBM, Mr. Ostdiek was promoted to the position of CTO of the elite High Performance on Demand Solutions (HiPODS) group. As part of this role, he advised IBM executives and clients on the impact of Web 2.0 technologies in the workplace. As IBM's chief architect to eBay, he developed solutions that allowed the online auction site to scale from 20 million to over 200 million users. In addition, five patents have been filed on Mr. Ostdiek's work on highly scalable systems.

Luis will oversee the build-out of Brightidea.com's new datacenter initiative, and will also work with key clients on the role of Innovation software in their Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0 roadmaps. He will work out of the San Francisco office and report directly to the President and CEO, Matt Greeley.

"This is a huge victory for us," said Matt Greeley, president and CEO, Brightidea.com. "Luis' move from IBM to Brightidea.com reinforces our leadership position and allows us to continue to deliver on our core promise: the best products available, for managing innovation."
