IBM Is Recognized for Best Practices in Business Intelligence and Organizational Change

ARMONK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2005 -- IBM has been recognized by two leading organizations for the innovative work it is doing to increase employee productivity and collaboration in order to better serve clients.

The Data Warehousing Institute, a leading provider of education and training in business intelligence and data warehousing, has given IBM top honors in the 2005 Best Practices in Data Warehousing competition. IBM won the Best Enterprise Business Intelligence Implementation category in recognition of its EDGE On Demand (EDGE) business intelligence infrastructure.

EDGE is a flexible, scalable solution that allows a sales representative in the field to see the same information that the chief executive officer sees -- and everyone in between. The EDGE environment encourages proactive decision-making, and creates a fully integrated end-to-end business intelligence solution that can span all responsibilities, brands and geographies.

IBM was also recognized by the American Productivity and Quality Center for its selection and participation in a leading-edge "best-practices" benchmarking study: "Realizing Change: How Best-Practice Organizations Benefit from Knowing When and How to Successfully Change."

A group of companies was selected for their exceptional performance and innovative approaches in identifying the need for change and managing it across the enterprise. Other companies participating in the study included American Express, FedEx Ground, Grants.gov, and Graybar.

The companies served as best-practice examples and were studied in depth to understand the processes that have made these organizations exemplary.

"These projects are tangible examples of IBM's transformation in action," said Linda Sanford, senior vice president, enterprise on demand transformation and information technology. "IBM is melding transformed processes, leading edge technology, and culture change to create a business that is flexible and integrated, which are the hallmarks of an on demand business."
