This new research is aimed at identifying how Best-in-Class manufacturers are defining and effectively ensuring closed loop quality management across the enterprise supply chain.

The results show that Best-in-Class companies are more than twice as likely to have an executive priority to improve enterprise quality management. Best-in-Class companies are also 90% more likely to standardize on a single quality management system, eliminating disparate point solutions across the enterprise.

Aberdeen's research revealed that Best-in-Class manufacturers share the following key performance indicators:

95% new product introductions
89% overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
25% increase in operating margin vs. corporate plan
98% on time and complete shipments

Over 59% of the survey respondents cited the need to ensure customer satisfaction as a key driver for undertaking quality management initiatives. This does not mean that companies have forgotten about cost cutting. 38% of respondents named reducing the total cost of quality as the second driving focus on quality management. Per the Aberdeen report, "When it comes to the cost of quality, companies are both attempting to reduce the costs associated with quality systems by automating and harmonizing systems as well as catching defects much closer to design and much further away from the customer."
