2013 has marked significant achievements for iCan Benefit Group, propelling the Florida-based insurance agency into an industry leader. Earlier this year, the company opened an additional 10,000 square-foot call center in Miramar, FL to further accommodate the more than 300 agents it plans to hire moving into 2014. The company's job creation campaign was also recognized by the country's largest employment website, Careerbuilder.com.
Now in its second year, Inc. magazine's Hire Power Awards highlight companies that create jobs amid a lagging economy and lagging job growth. Inc. Magazine's Hire Power Awards recognize companies by the number of jobs created in their respective industries and states; iCan Benefit Group ranked #1 nationally among competitors in the insurance industry, creating over 210 jobs in the last 18 months, further solidifying iCan as an industry leader focused on assisting consumers seeking options under the Affordable Care Act.
Based in Florida, a state home to nearly 400,000 small businesses that are helping to mitigate a 7% unemployment rate, iCan Benefit ranked fifth among 20 other Florida companies for job creation. iCan Benefit was ranked 11th in job creation for similar-sized companies employing between 101 and 250 workers.
Although humbled by the award, iCan Benefit says this carefully forecasted rate of growth is only the beginning. Stephen Tucker, CEO of the iCan Group, recently rallied both executives and companies to join him in launching a recruiting campaign that goes beyond conventional hiring processes.
On a late October day, Stephen Tucker requested a quick brainstorming session with members of management and Mark Longaro, President of iCan Media, and his team -- the group responsible for generating the calls that led to iCan Benefit Group's all-time sales record earlier this month.

He goes on to speak about the company's plans to fill a large number of seats in its multiple call centers, referencing a recruiting tactic he used when newspapers were still relevant. As the brainstorming session came to a close, the iCan Group's path for 2014 and beyond served as inspiration for the entire company.

News of iCan's recognition in Inc. magazine's Hire Power Award couldn't have arrived on a better day: Friday. An agent opens her intranet portal to find an image of a handful of money centered on her screen, accompanied by a line of text that begins with "refer-a-friend bonus." Her face gleams as her hand covers her mouth as she adjusts her headset and says to herself, "I know just the person."
