iCan Team in Full Force in Fight Against Diabetes

iCan Champions American Diabetes Association's Cause, Raises Nearly $10,000

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2013) -  For over 20 years, the American Diabetes Association has held their annual fundraising walk, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. The fundraising event has raised over $175 million since its inception, and the event has spread to nearly 120 events across the country. This year was no different.

Helping to improve the health and well-being of the American population is at the core of iCan's mission statement, a cause that is comprised of much more than providing access to affordable health insurance. As such, members of the iCan team rallied around the cause, showing up bright and early Saturday morning for the walk, after raising nearly $10,000 in a fervent fundraising campaign.

Now a four-year veteran of the Step Out fundraiser, iCan rallied friends, family, acquaintances, and professional contacts around the cause under the moniker iCanStopDiabetes. A flurry of emails, phone calls, and social media posts generated an overwhelming response from people eager to help both iCan and the American Diabetes Association in their aligned cause to stop diabetes for good.

Although the team's walking shoes have temporarily retired after Saturday's three-mile march, the fight against diabetes still rages on; the 25.8 million Americans currently living with diabetes depend on both the American Diabetes Association and participants to find a cure, and optimism is in no short supply.

Just a day before the walk, Mark Longaro, President of iCan Media, closes a last-chance fundraising email with a word of hope:
"This could very well be the fundraiser that pays for the cure to beat diabetes for good; you will have been part of that."
