ICE District to work with local agencies on resident housing

Key part of MacDonald Lofts deal

EDMONTON, CA--(Marketwired - November 23, 2016) - ICE District Joint Venture announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire the MacDonald Lofts Property with an anticipated transaction date at the end of November. Although the exact state of the property will not be known until after the sale concludes, initial investigations suggest the entire property may have to be vacated in order to conduct necessary repairs and to resolve ongoing public health issues.

In the event that any existing residents need to be relocated, ICE District Joint Venture will work with those residents, the Government of Alberta, and other social agencies on a process to find permanent, safe and affordable housing solutions focused on improving the quality of life for residents of the MacDonald Lofts Property. Except where there is an emergent health or safety issue, existing residents should be able to continue living in MacDonald Lofts until the physical condition of the building can be assessed.

The exact condition of the building is unknown and as such, more due diligence is required to understand the extent and timeline for any required repairs. The building also has "historic" designation and will require further discussion with the City of Edmonton regarding future use.
