ICEF's View Park Prep Awarded "Character Counts" for Outstanding School

Honor Granted for View Park Prep's Many Years of Sportsmanship

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 12, 2008) - ICEF Public Schools flagship high school, View Park Preparatory Charter High School, was awarded the "Character Counts" outstanding school in Los Angeles by the Interscholastic Athletic Committee, a partnership between Los Angeles Unified, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), L.A. City Section and others.

According to the selection committee, View Park Prep was selected as the school that most exemplifies the principles of "Pursuing Victory With Honor" from a group of more than 100 area schools. View Park Prep was granted this award due to its "many years of outstanding sportsmanship and leadership."

"On behalf of all our student-athletes, educators and coaches here at ICEF Public Schools, it is such an honor to receive an award that recognizes what we're about both on and off the court," said basketball head coach and View Park Prep head of schools Brian Taylor. "Character and academics have to come first, especially since so much of what it takes to be a great athlete is demonstrated through good character. I credit our athletic director, Mr. Robert Ambers, and the ICEF culture for instilling in our kids the importance of hard work, acting with integrity and just being a good person."

"We're so proud to see our students recognized for their hard work, both as athletes and as young men and women," said ICEF founder and Chief Executive Officer Michael D. Piscal. "At ICEF Public Schools, we make it our mission to prepare our students to successfully compete at the top colleges and universities in the nation."

ICEF's rigorous learning environment, strict focus on academics and culture of parental involvement has led to academic success. View Park Preparatory graduated its first class last June, with 100 percent of its graduates currently attending college.

This year, View Park Prep's men's and women's basketball teams both captured their second city championships in the past two years.

The award will be granted to View Park Prep at a special ceremony tonight in Los Angeles.
