Icon Ventures Appoints Michael Mullany to General Partner Role

Mullany Lends Product and Marketing Expertise to Portfolio Companies While Pursuing New Investments

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 15, 2015) - Icon Ventures, a leading technology venture capital firm, today announced the appointment of Michael Mullany as a general partner. Earlier this year, Mullany was named a venture partner. Michael will continue to assist the Icon portfolio with his deep product and marketing expertise, while working with the Icon team to invest in new companies with great promise.

Mullany initially joined Icon Ventures in 2014, bringing over 17 years of executive experience in senior product and marketing roles. Before joining Icon, he was the CEO of Sencha, an Icon investment and a leading provider of open-source web application frameworks and tools for developers and the enterprise. Previously, Mullany held senior product and executive marketing roles at influential Silicon Valley startups such as Netscape, Loudcloud and VMware. At VMware he served as vice president of worldwide marketing and product during the company's break-out into server computing.

Michael joins general partners Tom Mawhinney and Jeb Miller, along with Joe Horowitz, Icon's managing general partner, to round out the venture capital team. The combined experience of these four partners, in addition to the functional expertise of Icon's venture partners in scaling engineering, sales, finance and operations, provide tremendous value to Icon's portfolio companies.

"As a general partner, I am excited to play a larger role at Icon Ventures," said Michael Mullany. "I have great respect for the team, their style of doing business, their focus and their hustle factor. They have a great track record of success and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to further build the Icon platform."

"Michael is extraordinarily deep in grasping issues concerning product/market/distribution fit. Technology companies he has worked with all greatly value his contributions to their go-to-market plans and roadmap to achieve scale," said Joe Horowitz. "He has the ability to help companies get it right the first time, saving them time and capital."
