ICOP Selected by National Parks and Recreation

LENEXA, KS--(Marketwire - October 5, 2009) - ICOP Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICOP), an industry-leading company engaged in advancing digital surveillance solutions, announced today that Gettysburg National Park Service (NPS) and Pinnacles NPS, recently purchased the ICOP Model 20/20®-W digital in-car video systems.

ICOP currently has 21 National Park Service customers throughout the United States. The systems are being installed in Law Enforcement vehicles to help secure the national parklands. The NPS will invest $750 Million in nearly 800 projects to stimulate the economy through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, according to the NPS website.

The National Park Service manages approximately 84.6 million acres throughout the U.S., and has approximately 1,500 permanent full time law enforcement Park Rangers, and 500 seasonal law enforcement Park Rangers nationwide according to the U.S. Department of the Interior. In 2008 the National Park Services reported 435,794,319 recreation and non-recreation visits nationwide making public safety a significant part of daily operations.

The 2010 Budget for the U.S. Department of the Interior, the agency that manages the NPS, includes $12 billion for the DOI to undertake initiatives to protect and preserve America's national parks and public lands and includes a $100 million increase in park operations (plus inflation) to protect the investments made through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

In a recent article titled Perilous Parkland: Homeland Security and the National Parks dated July 24, 2009, it was noted that "Protecting national parks such as the Grand Canyon, Gettysburg, and the Statue of Liberty for future generations has been the #1 priority of the National Park Service since its inception."

The article went on to state that "Over the past year, rangers have seized illegal drugs at several parks... The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified other sites within the park system as potential terrorist targets for their symbolic value, forcing the Park Service to reallocate existing resources to beef up security..."

"We are seeing significant activity in this, yet another market ideally suited to the ICOP Model 20/20-W, and we are proud to be a part of the solution that helps to secure our nation's parklands," said Dave Owen, Chairman and CEO of ICOP.
