I.D. Magazine Presents IPEVO With 2008 Annual Design Review Award

PoV Web Camera Product Design Recognized With Honorable Mention

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - July 14, 2008) - IPEVO, a designer of devices that enhance the Internet experience, today announced that its PoV Web Camera received an honorable mention in I.D. Magazine's 2008 Annual Design Review in the 'Consumer Products' category. I.D. Magazine selected the PoV for this award based on the product's compact size, its ability to capture close-up details and its overall ease-of-use.

Since 1954, the I.D. Magazine's Annual Design Review has recognized the best in design, from the iconic to the obscure. Throughout the years, this annual showcase has chronicled the evolution of design and highlighted its impact on today's material and visual culture. Contest winners are chosen by a panel of distinguished design professionals and the I.D. Magazine editorial team, and demonstrate a clear survey of the state of design.

"The Annual Design Review awards recognize the best design concepts across a broad range of industries and categories, including consumer products, furniture, graphic and environment," said Jill Singer, I.D. Magazine's managing editor. "We selected IPEVO's PoV webcam as the 2008 consumer product honorable mention recipient because of its effectively implemented one-click button and sleek shape, which make it easy to operate and hold."

"We are so pleased to have received this award from a prestigious design publication such as I.D. Magazine," said Royce Hong, CEO of IPEVO. "This award is a true honor as it acknowledges the dedication IPEVO has had to introducing innovative devices that enhance the Internet experience, as well as the progress we have made in creating emerging technology products."

The webcam has generally been thought of as a device that transmits a 'talking head' sort of image by forcing the user to remain in one place. IPEVO has flipped the conventional design and developed a webcam that invites consumers to move away from the monitor and take their Web experience literally into their own hands.

By designing the PoV to reflect the shape of a pen, IPEVO's R&D team was able to capture the human gesture of pointing and introduce it as a way for consumers to communicate with one another. In other words, instead of talking to the webcam, consumers can now talk with their webcam, thus, enabling users to share their points of view with whomever they choose.

The PoV is compatible with Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and Skype. It focuses down to 2 inches away from the subject and uses an oversized focusing ring for smooth and dynamic adjustments between standard and close-up views. The PoV is currently available at the IPEVO online store for just $39.99.(1)
