IDC Provides Emergency Communications Equipment for Hurricane Katrina Relief and Rebuilding Efforts

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 7, 2005) - International Datacasting Corporation (TSX:IDC) announced today that its SuperFlex DVB/IP system is being deployed to provide emergency services in areas of the Southern United States stricken by Hurricane Katrina last week. IDC's customer, Agiosat, owns and operates its North American ResponseNet which provides connectivity for a variety of corporations, state and local government agencies as well federal agencies including FEMA's Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers. Overnight IDC shipped additional SRA2100 DVB/IP receivers to upgrade the Agiosat network. These receivers are utilized in mobile units that fill the infrastructure gaps left by damage from the hurricane.

Agiosat provides essential IP-centric connectivity via a global satellite grid for the emergency responder community, as well as the business / enterprise community heavily impacted by the loss of communications infrastructure. "Last mile" connectivity is provided through portable earth terminals that come in fixed, transportable, fly-away, mobile, maritime and aeronautical configurations which support telephony, data and video capabilities.

IDC President & CEO Ron Clifton commented, "With the wide availability of fiber and terrestrial infrastructure in the US, we sometimes forget how vulnerable connectivity can be in a situation like this. Satellite technology provides an excellent "instant" infrastructure which is mobile and rugged-ideal in a crisis of this magnitude."

Tom Soumas, President & CEO of Agiosat Global Communications added, "We are pleased with the support we've had from IDC over the years up to and including this crisis. The entire Agiosat organization, as well as teams of our supply partners, are working around the clock to make communication and connectivity recovery a reality in the affected region."
