Idea Project 2009: Hint Mint Sponsors World-Changing Ideas

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 12, 2009) - Hint Mint is honored to help Idea Project celebrate its third year, with the annual all-day idea conference at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood, on October 17th. Guest presenters include 17 of the world's most interesting people from fields as diverse as robotics to interpretive dance. All pioneers in their respective disciplines, they will share their innovative ideas with 300 of L.A.'s prominent thinkers and doers for a full day of seminars, performances, and deeply engaged interaction.

Cooper Bates founded Idea Project in 2007 (originally under the name TED-LA). He was inspired by his experience at the TED conference, both as an attendee and as a corporate sponsor through Hint Mint (which he co-founded along with Harley Cross in 1999). Idea Project continues to grow and draws some of Los Angeles' most interesting people. Past attendees include Nina Wiener, Managing Editor of Taschen Books; Max Schorr, Co-founder and Publisher of GOOD magazine; Lisa Napoli, Reporter for Marketplace (APM); Jonathan Greenblatt, Co-Founder of Ethos Water; Steve Barr, Founder of Green Dot Public Schools; and many others.

"Ideas change people... So we wanted to create a community of the most active and engaged people, introduce them to the most fascinating ideas we could find, and let the sparks fly!" said Cooper Bates. "Idea Project is about encouraging our own original concepts and projects, and working together to manifest real change."

Whether they're devoted to abolishing modern slavery or designing next-generation social robots, this year's speakers represent the newest movements in the fields of science, art, and social entrepreneurship. The lineup also includes live performances by Sekou Andrews and Steve Connell, gifted spoken word artists who performed privately for President Barack Obama; and Bill Shannon, a Guggenheim Fellow who mesmerizes audiences around the world with his unique style of dance.

In addition to the full day of presentations and performances, this year there will also be optional "Breakout Action Sessions" that attendees can participate in, such as morning yoga, capoeira and meditation, interactive social games at lunch, and a private tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's landmark Hollyhock House. Intelligentsia Coffee is hosting a morning wake-up espresso bar, and the gourmet lunch is provided by Large Marge Sustainables. There will be a reception held at Barnsdall Art Park, an ideal way to network with fellow attendees and speakers and forge relationships. Please note that unlike previous years, the Breakout Action Sessions and presentations will be open to the press. Space is limited; to reserve a spot, and if you have any questions, please email gracek@la-ip.com
