iDirect Government Technologies Chooses SelectTech GeoSpatial for Design of Airborne-Certified Router Enclosures

Company to Deliver Airborne-Certified Router Enclosures to Meet Growing Demand for Secure Satellite Airborne Communications Throughout Military and Government

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwire - Dec 12, 2011) - iDirect Government Technologies (iGT), a wholly owned subsidiary of VT iDirect (iDirect), today announced that it has signed a manufacturing agreement with SelectTech GeoSpatial of Springfield, Ohio, to design and manufacture two different variants of airborne-certified enclosures.

The iDirect e850mp-series satellite router airborne enclosures will include a standard 19-inch rack-mount unit and an ARINC 600 interface-based 4MCU unit that will include a processor which will enable antenna control for any make and model of airborne antenna. The rack-mount unit will fit a standard 19-inch rack or can be integrated into a transit case solution. Both variants will be designed and manufactured to the strict government certification requirements for airborne electronic systems. SelectTech, which is a leading manufacturer and integrator of electronic systems, communications, sensors, hardware fabrications and frames, will design and manufacture both aircraft variants at its Advanced Manufacturing Facility.

"The e850mp router will provide a much-needed performance increase in Ku-band, Ka-band and X-band communications throughout the military aircraft fleet to meet the growing demand for airborne communications," said Karl Fuchs, iGT Vice President, Technology. "As the demand for high bandwidth airborne communications continues to increase, it is imperative that we have a partner who has a proven track record in designing airborne-certified equipment. We have found that partner with SelectTech."

iGT serves the diverse and specialized needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian government agencies. From global logistics and disaster recovery to mobile communications, iGT provides satellite networks that play a critical role in government and defense communications.

"We are pleased to support iGT as it brings innovation to airborne Satcom," said Scott Sullivan, SelectTech President. "Our end-to-end capability with full-scale manufacturing will support the high-quality standards of iGT in the design and manufacture of airborne-certified enclosures."
