IFPTE President to Premier: Let's put our heads together

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Energy Editor, News Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 28, 2005) - IFPTE President Gregory Junemann has invited Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty meet with him in an effort to resolve the Hydro One strike.

"Mr. Premier, you have publicly indicated your commitment to the Province to ensure a safe and reliable supply of electricity," he said. He then asked the Premier to meet with IFPTE Canadian Vice President Andrew Müller and him "as a potential next step toward reaching settlement."

The Premier has called on the striking Hydro One employees to "act responsibly." Mr. Junemann and Mr. Müller suggested meeting toward resolving outstanding issues would be a responsible thing to do.

"We're pleased that the Premier has taken an interest in the Hydro One dispute over the last few days," said Müller, "and we hope he will see this initiative of our international president to be a useful path toward a resolution of the situation."
