IGN Entertainment Deploys FreeWheel Technology to Manage Financial Operations for Partner Payments

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 8, 2011) - IGN Entertainment, the world's leading video games media company, has expanded its relationship with video technology company, FreeWheel, to now include use of the company's financial operations solution, Revenue & Payments Management (RPM).

As part of the agreement, IGN will employ RPM Partner, the component of RPM designed to manage the complex economics of managing contracts and issuing payments for IGN's partner and business development deals. RPM Partner was designed to manage contracts and payments across various business models, including subscriptions, rentals, downloads, and merchandising.

"RPM is the second technology product we've designed expressly for enterprise-level entertainment companies, and we're thrilled to announce IGN as one of the first users of RPM Partner," said Doug Knopper, co-founder and co-CEO at FreeWheel. "RPM Partner will help IGN address the complexity that comes with managing the economics behind a gaming content business."

"We have seen significant value to date in our relationship with FreeWheel, and we are excited to be among the first to utilize RPM Partner," said Bernard Ho, vice president & GM of video for IGN Entertainment. "RPM Partner is allowing us to accurately reconcile partner contract information with actual delivery data to issue correct payments to the partners that are vital to our business."

RPM is an end-to-end financial operations system with two components: RPM Partner and RPM Advertiser. RPM Advertiser is an order management and invoicing system that allows media companies with ad-supported businesses to manage advertiser contracts and issue accurate invoices that reconcile IO payment terms with actual delivery.

IGN began its relationship with FreeWheel in February 2011 when it selected Monetization Rights Management® (MRM) as its advertising management system.
