iGT Achieves NIST Validation for FIPS 140-2 Government Standard

Company's iDX 2.3.1, Evolution Line Cards and Remotes Obtain Stringent Certification

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Jun 10, 2013) - iDirect Government Technologies (iGT), a wholly owned subsidiary of VT iDirect (iDirect), today announced that its iDX 2.3.1, Evolution series line cards and remotes achieved a Level 1 validation against Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2: Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules. FIPS 140-2 validation is a requirement for any cryptographic product that is used in a U.S. government agency network such as hardware and software that encrypts and decrypts data and conducts other cryptographic functions.

FIPS 140-2 establishes the Cryptographic Module Validation Program as a joint effort of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Canada's Communications Security Establishment. Validation under this program is extremely comprehensive and provides stringent third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be used by a government agency. iGT partnered with Corsec Security, Inc. to attain government validation.

"Corsec is pleased to have worked with iGT on this rigorous testing to validate iGT's satcom products to meet government standards so they can be used in sensitive and critical operations by government agencies," said Matthew Appler, Corsec CEO.

"iGT's positive performance in independent testing substantiates that the Evolution series line cards and remotes will maintain secure satcom for government community users who rely on iGT's secure connectivity for mission success," said John Ratigan, iGT President. "Our satcom solutions enable reliability, transmission security, scalability and flexibility to operate in the most challenging environments."

Combined with iGT's 2.3.1 software, the FIPS 140-2 Level 1-compliant remotes and line cards expand iGT's TRANSEC capabilities.
