IIX Appoints Former Red Hat Vice President as Chief Technology Officer

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - December 03, 2014) - IIX Inc., the global software-defined interconnection company, today announced that it has appointed Paul Gampe as Chief Technology Officer. As CTO, Gampe will draw on his extensive background in software and network engineering to lead IIX's technology development and deliver on its strategy to leverage software-defined interconnection to enable simple, secure and scalable direct interconnection across the globe between content providers, cloud application providers and other enterprises.

Gampe brings 20 years of experience in information technology operations, software development and International business operations to the IIX executive team. Prior to joining IIX, Gampe was CTO of NEXTDC, a leading Data-Centre-as-a-Service (DCaaS) provider based in Australia. As CTO, he was the leading force behind NEXTDC's information systems and technology strategies and customer facing platforms, including the company's DCaaS platform, ONEDC. Previously, he was Vice President of Worldwide Engineering Services and Operations at Red Hat. During his 12-year tenure at Red Hat, Gampe directed the company's global function delivering software engineering services and pioneered the development of Red Hat's Asian language products. Gampe also served as General Manager of TWICS, Japan's first public-access Internet Service Provider and Manager of Technology at the regional internet registry, the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC).

"We founded IIX with the goal of enabling simple, secure and direct interconnection for enterprise networks regardless of their location. Delivering innovative and simple software-based solutions is the key to increasing enterprise adoption of direct interconnection to service providers," said Al Burgio, CEO of IIX. "Paul brings extensive and global experience in network engineering and software development, and will lead IIX's expansion of its unique and innovative platform to support the growing movement to the cloud by enterprise."

Enterprises are rapidly adopting cloud computing solutions, driving the demand for scalable, secure and flexible direct interconnection to content, cloud and application providers and other enterprise networks that are important to their business. IIX has developed a software-driven, next-generation direct interconnection platform and product roadmap that enables enterprises to buy online, provision online and manage online with the click of a button.

"I've spent my career working with leading technology companies to develop new software and services by using and contributing to open-source projects that help the enterprise improve the efficiency, effectiveness and security of their business operations," said Gampe. "I look forward to growing a community of customers and contributors for our technology platform enabling a software-defined network (SDN) of global scale."
