Image Entertainment Presents "The Double"

Starring Emmy® and Golden Globe® Winners Richard Gere and Martin Sheen; Appearing on Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital Download January 31, 2012

CHATSWORTH, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 26, 2012) - In the world of espionage, there's only two kinds of secret agents: successful and dead. And sometimes it's useful to be both... On January 31, 2012, Image Entertainment bows the taut spy thriller "The Double" on Blu-ray™ and DVD. Written by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the screenwriting team behind "Wanted" and "3:10 To Yuma," the film also marks Brandt's directorial debut. Wowing both critics and audiences during its theatrical release last year, "The Double" will be available on DVD with an SRP of $27.97 and on Blu-ray™ with an SRP of $29.97, as well as available via digital download. Pre-book is January 3rd.

The mysterious murder of a United States Senator bears the distinctive trademark of a legendary Cold War-era Soviet assassin, code-named "Cassius." With targets becoming increasingly sporadic and ballistic reports inconclusive, panic is silently growing at the highest levels. There are only two men capable of finding this seemingly uncatchable killer: retired CIA operative Paul Sheperdson (Richard Gere, "Brooklyn's Finest," "Chicago") and young, hotshot FBI agent Ben Geary (Topher Grace, "That '70's Show," "Spider-Man 3"). Paul has engaged in an obsessive hunt for Cassius for the better part of his life, studying the killer's every move.

When Paul's former supervisor Tom Highland (Martin Sheen, "The Departed," "The West Wing") forces him out of retirement to join this aggressive newcomer in their deadly pursuit, he forges an uneasy alliance with Geary in order to finally bring this long-sought "shadow" to justice. What awaits this mismatched pair are twists and turns around every corner and the horrifying realization that identity is purely circumstantial.

"The Double" is a smart and edgy thriller -- with an intriguing story that will keep the viewer in its crosshairs until the very last shot. "The Double" also stars Stephen Moyer ("True Blood"), Odette Yustman ("Cloverfield"), and Stana Katic ("Castle.")

"... plenty of surprising twists and turns that are sure to keep audiences on the edges of their seats." - Buzzine

"... definitely worth a look" - Huffington Post
