Image Microsystems Wins Green Product Showcase Award

MicroStrate™ Sign Substrate Presented Honor by the International Sign Association; Award-Winner to Be Exhibited at the TCEQ Environmental Expo and Conference May 3-4 in Austin, TX

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - May 3, 2011) - Image Microsystems -- a leading provider of technology restoration, reverse logistics, e-waste recycling, and recycled plastic products manufacturing -- announces they have won the Green Product Showcase Award for their MicroStrate™ sign substrate material. The award was presented by the International Sign Association at their annual Expo 2011 recently held in Las Vegas. "We are honored to have won this award," stated Alex Abadi, PhD, CEO of Image Microsystems. "We've long believed that our MicroStrate™ sign substrate material is an environmentally friendly and lower-cost alternative to aluminum for use in the sign industry," continued Abadi. "Now this award presented by the sign industry's leading association confirms our belief in the viability and market acceptance of this product," concluded Abadi.

"Since its inception in 2010, the Green Product Showcase has introduced a number of exciting, environmentally friendly products at ISA International Sign Expo and this year's showcase was no different," said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. "Image Microsystems' innovative recycling of computer parts for sign substrates was certainly deserving of the title 'Coolest Green Product.' But the real winners will be those who will use the products introduced at the showcase to better the on-premise sign industry."

Patent pending MicroStrate™ sign substrate is a versatile material made completely of recycled e-waste plastic. Image Microsystems' proprietary manufacturing process combines "dirty" plastic found in spent printer cartridges and computer or printer housings and converts it into resilient, cost-effective, earth-friendly products. Recent tests conducted by Texas Tech University show that MicroStrate™ sign substrate is as durable as aluminum, but is much greener, contributing only ¼ the carbon footprint.

Dirty plastic is considered valueless in the recycling supply chain and as a result frequently ends up in landfills. Now, purchasers of signage and markers made from MicroStrate™ can save money on a product as tough -- but not as theft-prone as aluminum -- while simultaneously feeling good about contributing to carbon footprint and e-waste reduction. As a result of these benefits, MicroStrate™ signage has recently been installed on roadways in several municipalities and on large corporate campuses.

MicroStrate™ is being exhibited at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Environmental Expo and Conference held in Austin, Texas May 3rd and 4th. Samples of the product can be seen at the Image Microsystems' booth 509 at the Austin Convention Center.
