IMERYS to Raise Prices for Kaolins to the Paper Industry

BRUSSELS, Belgium--(CCNMatthews - Aug 16, 2005) -

IMERYS announces that the prices of its kaolin products for the global paper industry will increase effective from 1st October 2005 or as commitments allow. This price increase will average US$15.00 per ton for Georgia kaolins, GBP 15.00 for UK kaolins and US$30.00 for Brazilian kaolins.

Dramatic increases in energy and chemical costs are the primary drivers for these price increases. Furthermore, the continuous strengthening of the Brazilian Real over the last two years has significantly impacted the cost of Brazilian produced clays.

IMERYS Pigments for Paper is a world leading producer of white pigments, manufacturing kaolin, ground calcium carbonate (GCC) and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). The business group serves the needs of the international paper industry and employs 3050 people, operates 44 industrial sites in 19 countries and represents 26% of Imerys' overall revenue.
