IMG Says No Rafael Nadal Exhibitions Planned for Brazil in 2012

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Nov 7, 2011) - IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company that represents tennis great Rafael Nadal, said today that reports that Rafa will play exhibition matches in Brazil in 2012 are incorrect.

"There have been several recent reports in the Brazilian media that Rafa will play exhibition matches with Novak Djokovic in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro during 2012," said Fernando Soler, Managing Director of IMG's renowned tennis business. "Unfortunately this is not true."

Information announcing the fictitious events, billed as "the competition that would determine the best tennis player in the world," was distributed to the media recently by an entertainment company in Brazil.

"I'm sure Rafa would be playing in Brazil in the next years but at this point there have been no discussions with any company about Rafa playing in Brazil in 2012," said Carlos Costa, senior vice president of IMG and Rafa's IMG manager. "Rafa is currently preparing for the year-end ATP World Tour finals in London at the end of the month and is focused on preparing for 2012."
