Impelsys' iPublishCentral 3.0 Allows Publishers to Quickly Create Enhanced Book Apps for iPad

New Version of Company's Flagship Technology Platform Also Features Ability for Publishers to Customize the Way Digital Content Is Distributed to Customers

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Apr 11, 2011) - Impelsys, a global leader in providing electronic content delivery solutions, today announced the introduction of iPublishCentral 3.0, a new version of its technology platform that has revolutionized the way publishers sell and distribute digital content on the Web.

iPublishCentral is a full-service electronic publishing solution that allows publishers to market their content as eBooks, online journals and other electronic products. The platform gives publishers all the tools they need to manage and monetize their digital assets without making significant development investments on their own.

One of the breakthrough features in iPublishCentral 3.0 is the introduction of new frameworks to support the creation of enhanced eBooks for Apple's iPad. The new platform offers publishers two options -- "Book as an App" and "Bookstore as an App" -- that allow them to quickly create iPad apps with which to market either individual eBooks or an entire eBooks library to iPad users. Impelsys offers this functionality as a turnkey technology service for customers, so no development work is required.

"The amazing success of the iPad, with more than 15 million already sold worldwide, has provided an extraordinary boost in demand for eBooks and other digital content from publishers," said Sameer Shariff, founder and CEO of Impelsys. "The new version of iPublishCentral includes the capability for publishers to quickly introduce their own iPad app, which takes readers to either an individual title or to a collection of the publisher's titles, so they can begin to take advantage of the tremendous revenue opportunities that exist right now. The 'Book as an App' framework provides key essential functionality that helps to quickly create enhanced, customized eBook apps at a reduced cost."

A second major new feature in iPublishCentral 3.0 is the ability for publishers to customize and fully automate the distribution of their eBooks. The platform is now highly scalable, with the potential to be extended to thousands of retail outlets, and also provides publishers with robust management reports to carefully track the distribution and sales of their digital products.

A third major new feature in the new version of iPublishCentral is the integration of a publisher's eBook sales with print book sales. "Our new technology platform empowers publishers with the ability to manage customer sales of both eBooks and print books from a single portal," explained Anil Gopinath, executive vice president of global engineering for Impelsys. "This allows our partners to create bundled offerings that combine both versions of their books, which translates into greater revenue opportunities."

According to Gopinath, other features of iPublishCentral 3.0 include:

  • Efficient management of all digital assets

  • In-depth e-commerce analytics

  • Extensive product search functionality

  • User-friendly book contents reader
