Imperial Reports Red Chris Drill Results

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 14, 2007) - Imperial Metals Corporation (TSX:III) reports 1.07% copper, 1.27 g/t gold and 4.00 g/t silver over 822.6 metres in diamond drill hole RC07-335 at its Red Chris copper/gold deposit located 20 kilometres southeast of the village of Iskut in northern British Columbia.

East Zone Total Interval Interval Interval Copper Gold Silver
Drill Hole # Length (m) from (m) to (m) Length (m) % g/t g/t
RC07-335 1029.0 4.9 827.5 822.6 1.07 1.27 4.00

and 492.5 512.5 20.0 2.50 4.36 7.38
and 677.5 732.5 55.0 1.46 3.06 5.94

Hole RC07-335 was collared in a highly silicified quartz stockwork located in the central portion of the East Zone. This intersection highlights the exceptional vertical continuity of grade at this location. Two of the intervals noted above demonstrate the occurrence of higher grade gold mineralization within this zone. Results from the remaining 201.5 metres for hole RC07-335 (a 1,029 metre vertical hole) are pending. A total of five holes, three on the East Zone and two on the Main Zone, are planned for the 2007 field program, and are all targeted to test the depth extent of the known zones at Red Chris. Drilling is expected to be completed by the end of August, with final results expected in early fall.

East Zone mineralization includes chalcopyrite and bornite, while mineralization within the Main Zone is predominantly chalcopyrite and pyrite. The Red Chris deposit is primarily associated with the Red stock, a monzodiorite intrusion which has quartz, sericite, ankerite, potassium feldspar and hematite alteration, and is subsequently cut by a sulphide-bearing quartz stockwork.

Steve Robertson, PGeo., designated as the Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, reviewed the data as described in this release. Samples are analyzed at Acme Analytical Laboratories in Vancouver. A full QA/QC program using blanks, standards and duplicates was maintained for all samples submitted to the lab. The porphyry deposit at Red Chris is irregular in shape and the drilling reported is the first intercept of the deep mineralization so true thicknesses have not been estimated.
