Imperial's Patrick McAndless Honoured by APEGBC

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 13, 2006) - Imperial Metals Corporation (TSX:III) is pleased to announce that Patrick M. McAndless, Imperial's Vice President Exploration, is being honoured by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia as the recipient of the 2006 C.J. Westerman Memorial Award. Mr. McAndless will receive the award this evening at the APEGBC's Annual President's Awards in Victoria, BC.

Mr. McAndless has been involved for over 30 years in base and precious metal exploration in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central America and Africa. He has managed large-scale exploration projects in search of porphyry copper, volcanogenic massive sulphide and epithermal gold deposits.

Mr. McAndless was the 2005 recipient of the AME BC H.Spud Huestis Award for excellence in prospecting and mineral exploration. His other notable achievements include the 2003 discovery of the Northeast porphyry copper deposit at Imperial's Mount Polley property, for which he was recognized with the 2003 Northern BC Prospector of the Year Award, and the 2001 discovery of a high-grade gold deposit at Imperial's Sterling property in Nevada.

Mr. McAndless joined Imperial Metals in 1996 as part of the merger with Bethlehem Resources where he served as Vice-President, Exploration since 1988. He holds a B.Sc. Degree in Honors Geology from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
