Molson today announced a donation in the amount of $100,000 to Fondation de l'Universite du Quebec en Outaouais for the development of a soccer and football playing field to be used by university students, as well as individuals and groups from across the region.

"An investment in a project such as this is an investment in the community at large," stated Geoff Molson, Vice President, Marketing and seventh generation member of the Molson family. "We are proud to support UQO and help make this initiative a reality. Indeed, the initiative is in perfect keeping with our corporate genes and values which advocate the promotion of sports and the benefits of active student and public lifestyles," Mr. Molson went on to add.

For Jean Vaillancourt, Rector of UQO, the donation is indicative of the emphasis Molson places on the development of sporting excellence in Quebec's universities. "In today's world, the financial and philanthropic contributions of public and private partners are essential to the development of the university community and the promotion of sporting activities. We are delighted to announce our association with Molson and convinced that the company's involvement will inspire other players to join with UQO in this grand undertaking," underscored Mr Vaillancourt.

In attendance for the official presentation of the donation to UQO, Pierre Vercheval, a former Montreal Alouettes player, hastened to underline Molson's generosity. "This donation from Molson not only supports UQO in a large-scale endeavour designed to promote amateur sport but also contributes to the development and retention of talented young athletes in the region," explained Mr Vercheval.

The importance of giving back to the community has been a part of the Molson tradition since 1786. Established by founder John Molson himself, this tradition continues to strengthen and grow, and today forms an integral part of the company's corporate culture and the values espoused by each employee. Molson perpetuates this commitment through support to charity organizations and community events across the country.
