Imprint Enterprises Expands Its Data Center Division

Imprint Data Center Solutions to Offer an Integrated Approach

MAPLEWOOD, MN--(Marketwire - November 16, 2010) - Imprint Data Center Solutions announced that it will be expanding its engineering department to meet the growing demand for data center infrastructure projects. Headquartered in Minnesota, Imprint Data Center Solutions (IDCS), a division of Imprint Enterprises of MN, is the single source for planning, building and retro-fitting data centers.

Imprint's focus on engineering support will allow IDCS to turn-key data center projects and simplify the process from start to finish. Whether clients are looking for a smart power strip, energy management software or a complete data center retrofit, Imprint Data Center Solutions has the capacity to do so.

"Energy consumption in the data center is a huge concern with our clients," says Peter McGurran, President IDCS MN. "We are investing heavily in engineering support to help the data center managers and operators we work with deal with the increased load densities due to the increased demand for computing power." IDCS has combined electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and project management to be able to turn-key data center projects ranging from network closets to multiple megawatt facilities.

Business value for an organization is based on three objectives: Increasing revenue, reducing costs, and better utilization of assets. These three objectives ultimately lead to improved earnings and cash flow. Data center infrastructure investments are made because they both directly and indirectly impact these three business objectives. Managers purchase items such as generators, air conditioners, security systems, and UPS systems to serve as "insurance policies." For any network or data center, there are risks of downtime from power and thermal problems and investing in data center infrastructure solutions mitigates these and other risks.

"Today's IT demands have made traditional room based data center design obsolete," says Todd Riebe, Sr. Systems Engineer for IDCS. "Designing to a specific wattage per square foot doesn't account for the variations in rack densities. At Imprint we approach data center design by first starting with the equipment in the racks and designing the power and cooling infrastructure to meet those requirements. This is opposite of the way companies used to design -- having the power and cooling infrastructure dictate what IT equipment they can deploy."

IDCS is a division of Imprint Enterprises of MN, a privately held company with its headquarters in Maplewood, MN. For more information, call Peter McGurran at 651.488.9343 or or visit
