Inaugural Event Combines Exceptional Food, Great Entertainment and the Spirit of Giving to Benefit the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and Children's Miracle Network

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 13, 2007) - On November 22 at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre RE/MAX and the Marriott are bringing Calgarians the Cotton Club. It's a new way for people to help provide children with the best medical care in the world while having a blast during a night like none other in Calgary. The Cotton Club's beneficiaries are the Children's Miracle Network and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

Funds raised through the night's festivities will go to help meet the 'Greatest Needs' of the hospital. The Greatest Needs list is an ever-changing list of priorities needed to continue bringing the best possible care to children in Southern Alberta. Examples of items on the list include:

- newborn hearing screening equipment,

- cardiac monitor for a human patient simulator, and

- a family and youth engagement program.

"We're in the business of making miracles happen for children on a daily basis. The contributions made through the Cotton Club will help us make more miracles come to life," says Steve Hoscheit, President and CEO of the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

The Cotton Club theme brings together the three great elements of any event; great music, lively entertainment and spectacular food. Taking centre stage at the inaugural Cotton Club is the 17-piece, big band Johnny Summers Orchestra. Johnny Summers will belt out a combination of his own original jazz arrangements as well as a mix of classics reminiscent of the great music heard at the Cotton Club in Harlem during the 1920s and 30s. For more information about Johnny Summers visit his website at Included in the entertainment is the Cotton Club's own champion auctioneer and incredible swing dancing.

Critical to a great night is food that you can't have at home or anywhere else for that matter. The Marriott's Executive Chef Kevin Birch has researched cuisine found in New York during the Cotton Club era and even found original menus from the Cotton Club. Bringing his own flare to the proceedings, the Cotton Club Calgary menu includes incredible dishes like:

- blackened cat fish with sugar water melon and Hominy grit cake,

- rack of lamb with wild onions and southern cherry jam,

- and even classic deviled eggs with golden fish roe.

Those are some great eats Daddy-O.

Tickets are $75 and available by visiting, calling the Marriott (266-7331) or talking to your RE/MAX Realtor.
