Maureen Shaw, President and CEO of IAPA, is proud of the new award, stating, "At IAPA, we recognize that in order to create a habit of healthy and safe workplaces, we can't succeed without the partnership and support of the media. This award is important to recognize the critical role the media are playing in raising the profile of the magnitude and the issues of injury, disease, and death in our workplaces."

"Russ Ramsay was a broadcaster, a legislator, and a pioneer in the promotion of workplace health and safety as a critical societal issue," continues Shaw. "We are honoured to have the opportunity to name this award after him as he was a passionate role model during his broadcasting and health and safety careers."

There is no fee for participating in the award process. All entries will be judged by a panel comprised of media professionals and IAPA staff and will be evaluated based on how well the issue of workplace health and safety is covered, the quality of story delivery, and how in-depth and accurate the coverage is on the issue.
