Inaugural Nextgov Bold Awards Winners Announced

Federal Employees Recognized at Nextgov Prime for Their Bold Leadership in Implementing Innovating Government Programs Through Technology

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - November 20, 2013) - Nextgov announced today the eight winners of the 2013 Nextgov Bold Awards before 500 federal managers at the annual Nextgov Prime event in Washington, DC. The Nextgov Bold Awards is designed to recognize federal employees who have taken risks to implement innovative programs that make government more effective. Prior to the awards ceremony, Craig Newmark, founder of craiglist and craigconnects, and Peter Levin, former CTO for the Department of Veterans Affairs, discussed government's role in driving innovation.

At the awards ceremony, all nineteen finalists from twelve different federal agencies were recognized for their achievements and efforts to improve government operations. More than 180 nominations were received and over 2,000 votes were cast for the People's Choice award. Nextgov, the technology-focused online publication of Government Executive Media Group, produced the awards program.
