Employees at Market Leading Security Software Company Worked Together to Raise Funds for Four Scholarships for Deserving Students at State University

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - September 15, 2014) - Courion®, the market leader in intelligent identity and access management (IAM), today announced the first-ever recipients of the CourionCares University of Massachusetts Scholarships. Employees at Courion, who are committed to community service, raised the funds needed for the four scholarships by giving their time and donations at the 2013 annual holiday charity auction held at the company's headquarters.

The purpose of the CourionCares UMass Scholarship is to provide special recognition to undergraduate students at the University of Massachusetts who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. The University of Massachusetts is rated as one of the world's best universities and each year educates more than 70,000 undergraduate and graduate students at its campuses located in Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell and Worcester.

The 2014 CourionCares Scholarship winners, selected by the University of Massachusetts, include: William Boag, a senior at UMass Lowell who is majoring in Computer Science with a GPA of 4.00; Ryan Collette, a senior at UMass Boston who is majoring in Computer Science with a GPA of 3.94; Stephen Hicks, a junior at UMass Amherst who is majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a GPA of 3.55; and Phillip Igoe, a sophomore at UMass Dartmouth who is majoring in Computer Science with a GPA of 3.96.

"We are delighted to be able to give back to the community in some small measure by helping to fund the education of these promising college students," said Chris Zannetos, CEO and founder of Courion Corporation. "I am also especially proud of our employees, who came together to create these scholarships this year. I am already looking forward to our 2014 charity auction!"
