Inception Media Group Acquires "Screwed" at Cannes Film Market

Media Company Adds Thriller to Its Rapidly Growing Film Library

CANNES, FRANCE--(Marketwire - May 21, 2012) - Inception Media Group, LLC, a diversified media company specializing in the production, acquisition and distribution of entertainment content, today announced from Cannes that it has acquired the North America distribution rights to "Screwed," a compelling thriller based on the bestselling book by a former prison guard.

During the past four months, Inception has added ten films to its growing catalog, all of which will be made available across a variety of platforms including home video, digital, VOD and television.

The film was acquired through U.K.-based Intandem Films on behalf of Unstoppable Entertainment.

"Screwed" is a semi-biographical story based on the book of the same name by former prison guard Ronnie Thompson, who spent seven years working in some of the most dangerous British prisons. James D'Arcy ("Master & Commander") plays former soldier Sam Norwood, who takes a job as a prison officer when he returns from Iraq and becomes exposed to the underworld of prison culture, corruption and drug trafficking. The film also co-stars Noel Clarke, who will appear in director J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Trek" sequel. "Screwed" was directed by Reg Traviss.

Thompson's book, "Screwed: The Truth About Life As A Prison Officer," was named from "Screws," the slang British term for prison guards.
