LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 29, 2012) - Inception Media Group, LLC, a diversified media company specializing in the production, acquisition and distribution of entertainment content, today announced it has signed an agreement to be the U.S. home video and digital distributor of film and television programming from CJ Entertainment America, the U.S. division of Korea's largest provider of entertainment content.
Inception Media Group has been aggressively expanding its catalog of entertainment programming for home video, digital, VOD and television with long-term licenses across a variety of platforms.
CJ Entertainment & Media is a key force in popularizing contemporary Korean and Pan-Asian cinema around the world. Korean pop culture -- including films, music, food and fashion -- has so rapidly gained popularity in recent years in the U.S. and around the world that the media has coined a term to describe the phenomenon: hallyu (meaning "Korean Wave").
Upcoming releases through Inception Media Group will include I AM: SMTOWN Live World Tour in Madison Square Garden (Nov. 6); R2B: Return to Base, starring Jung Ji-hoon, aka "Rain" (Ninja Assassin, Speed Racer) and the critically acclaimed Masquerade (now in theaters -- having grossed more than $641,000 to date), starring Byung-hun Lee (the upcoming Red 2; the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation; G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra; The Good, the Bad, the Weird; A Bittersweet Life), the critically acclaimed film in theaters now.
"There has been a growing demand for high-quality, live-action content from Korea, particularly among younger demographics," said David Borshell, partner, Inception Media Group. "Over the years, CJ Entertainment America has distinguished itself as a leading provider of top-quality, award-winning programming that has performed extremely well at retail and we look to build upon their prior successes."
Commented Sam Maseba, VP, non-theatrical distribution, CJ Entertainment America, "Inception has broad-based expertise in marketing popular specialty genres to the American market. This partnership enables us to effectively and efficiently expand the distribution of our unique film and television programming -- digitally and on DVD and Blu-ray -- to home entertainment retailers and consumers."
