Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets Provide This Season's Solution to Expensive Heating Costs

LADYSMITH, WI--(Marketwired - Oct 8, 2014) - Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets will provide a solution to a potential problem this winter. Meteorologists are predicting another potentially rough winter in 2014-2015, and the bitter cold may cause increased demand for propane across the country and with the loss of the Cochin Pipeline, less supply, therefore increased prices. Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets provide consumers with an alternative to make smarter energy choices and heat their homes affordably without relying on propane.

In a report published in August 2014 by the Propane Education and Research Council titled "Impact of the Cochin Pipeline Reversal on Consumer Propane Markets in the Midwest," it said that in 2013, the Kinder Morgan Cochin Pipeline was the largest single source of propane supply to a number of states in the Midwest. The pipeline was taken out of service in the Spring of 2014. With the conversion of the Cochin Pipeline to diluent transportation service, the propane industry lost over 50,000 barrels per day of propane transportation capacity from Alberta into the propane market in the U.S. Midwest. For 2014/15, the new infrastructure needed to replace Cochin will not be fully in place. "This year, that could lead to a supply shortage and increased propane prices," said Lawrence Lagowski, President of Indeck Energy. "We want to ensure that consumers know that there is an alternative heating source available to them."

Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets provide several advantages as a heating source over propane. Wood pellets are renewable and contain very low levels of moisture and ash, making them environmentally friendly and efficient sources of heat. Bags of wood pellets are very easy to store and wood pellets pour directly into a stove hopper. Modern wood pellet stoves and furnaces run automatically and are controlled by a thermostat.

"We encourage current propane customers to consider switching to wood burning pellet stoves and furnaces to heat their homes," Lagowski said. "Wood pellet fuel is a reliable, economical choice and it's a much cleaner and more sustainable source of energy."
