Independence Blast Weekend on the Waterfront

Family Fun and Free Entertainment to Celebrate Independence Weekend by the River

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2011) - Visitors to the Delaware River Waterfront will experience a jam packed 4th of July weekend of family fun! Independence Blast Weekend on the Waterfront will be the centerpiece of the season celebrating Independence Weekend in two cities that share one waterfront. July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, on the Philadelphia waterfront at Penn's Landing and along the Camden waterfront, this ultimate Patriotic weekend will feature concerts, ice cream, and the Two Cities, One Waterfront Fireworks synchronized to a patriotic soundtrack.

July 2nd will feature military-themed concerts on both sides of the river at 7:30 p.m. The RiverStage at the Great Plaza will feature the United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" while Wiggins Waterfront Park in Camden will feature the Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic.

Following the concerts will be the Two Cities One Waterfront Fireworks Display at 9:30 p.m. Visitors to both the Philadelphia and Camden waterfronts will be able to hear the synchronized soundtracks for the fireworks from speakers on the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing and Wiggins Park in Camden. KYW Newsradio will also broadcast the official soundtrack to the show to allow visitors on either side of the river to tune to 1060 AM to enjoy the fireworks displays with their coordinating soundtracks.

On Saturday, July 2nd, Sunday, July 3rd and Monday, July 4th, enjoy all the ice cream you can eat while supporting a great cause to fight Pediatric Leukemia. The SUPER SCOOPER ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT ICE CREAM FESTIVAL benefits the Joshua Kahan Fund as it continues its mission to "lick Leukemia!" Fam Jams!, the "I Can't Believe It's FREE, Can't Miss Concert for All Ages" expands to both sides of the River! Another great line up of rising stars on the RiverStage on the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing while Wiggin's Waterfront Park on the Camden Waterfront will feature a fun family concert too!

Returning to Penn's Landing for a fourth season, this exciting, all-ages concert features some of the hottest rising stars. Previous headliners included the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato. This year's headliner is EMILY OSMENT. Known for her role as Lily Truscott on Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana," Emily has made a name for herself both as an actress and a musician. Australian artist CODY SIMPSON will also perform. In December, Cody released the "4U" EP which is highlighted by the track "All Day," currently a Top 10 smash at Radio Disney.

Also appearing is former American Idol contestant TIM URBAN. The concert takes place on Sunday, July 3 from1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on the RiverStage at Penn's Landing. Fam Jams! will feature fun activities for kids in a family-friendly atmosphere. This is an exclusive opportunity to see some of the best rising young artists in the business for FREE!
