Independent Towers Activates New Cell Site in Adirondack Park

Town of Lewis Site Provides Multi-Carrier Coverage to Northway Corridor

LATHAM, NY--(Marketwire - February 17, 2009) - Independent Towers LLC announced today the completion and activation of a new multi-carrier cell site in the Town of Lewis, Essex County, New York. The new tower, the first multiple carrier site application approved within the Adirondack Park, provides coverage north and south of Exit 32 of I87, and along Route 9 in the Northway Corridor.

"The Lewis site provides much needed coverage along the Adirondack Northway," said NYS Senator Betty Little, "and addresses environmental preservation concerns in its location and design to handle multiple carriers." Independent Towers first discovered the Town of Lewis site need in meeting with Senator Little on coverage concerns within the Adirondack Park.

The site, placed on a side hill surrounded by trees, was designed to blend with a natural wall of trees and be away from public view. Engineered to accommodate up to four cell carriers, the 100' monopole is expandable to 120'. Currently RCC (Rural Cellular) and T-Mobile are utilizing the site to provide coverage along the Northway Corridor.

The application for the Lewis site was the first within the Adirondack Park to call for placing multiple carriers on a single tower. When the Adirondack Park Agency approved the Independent Tower application for the Lewis site, John Sheehan, Director of Communications for The Adirondack Council, a leading environmental protection organization in the Park, stated, "That's exactly the way we were hoping they would carry out the communication expansion in the Park."
