Indietronic Band White Apple Tree Goes Global With Their Hit Single 'Snowflakes'

'Snowflakes' Is Featured on the Soundtrack for the German Indie Blockbuster 'Kokowaah,' Which Sold Over 1 Million Tickets Opening Weekend

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2011) - 37 Records' young So Cal indietronic band, White Apple Tree has gone international with their single, "Snowflakes," showcased in the German indie film, Kokowääh. The song, first heard on an episode of The CW's teen hit TV drama show Gossip Girl, is also featured on the film's original soundtrack, while two exclusive remixes are included in the film's soundtrack deluxe set.

As a result of the film's recent buzz, "Snowflakes" has reached the digital sales in Germany, climbing to #11 this week on the iTunes Deutschland (Germany) Singles chart, beating out radio favorites Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Black Eyed Peas. In addition, the soundtrack has skyrocketed to #3 on the iTunes Deutschland Soundtracks chart and is currently poised to break the Top 10 on Amazon Germany Soundtracks at #11.

The movie centers on Henry, a down-and-out screenwriter who is anxious to rekindle a romance with a long lost love when a precocious 8-year-old girl is left on his doorstep with a letter stating his paternity. German actor Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds, New Year's Eve, The Three Musketeers) stars in the lead role and directs the film, while his real daughter Emma plays Magdalena on-screen. The breakout hit sold over 1 million tickets in its first weekend.

Although WAT is enjoying their unexpected success overseas, they are hard at work back in the States with the release of their new four-track EP Peach Hat. The band was is currently #10 on the TOP 20 Electronic chart for The Deli Los Angeles and was recently featured in Boston's Glide Magazine. Plus, the band performed on Beta Records TV, playing a stripped-down version of their latest single, "Passed Out," which aired nationally last week along with an interview by White Apple Tree's lead singer Ryan Marshall Lawhon and his brother, keyboardist Taylor Lawhon. "Passed Out" also reached the Top 10 Popular charts for the online radio station Hype Machine.
