Indomina Releasing Grabs U.S. Rights to Clash From XYZ Films

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 25, 2010) -  Indomina Releasing, a new distributor of feature films, acquired U.S. rights to the Vietnamese box office hit CLASH from Vietnamese producer Chanh Phuong Co., Ltd. and Los Angeles-based sales outfit XYZ Films, following its screening at the 43rd Annual SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. CLASH premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in April of this year where Indomina first saw the film. CLASH, starring Johnny Trí Nguyen ("The Protector," "The Rebel"), Ngô Thanh Vân ("Rogue", "The Rebel") and Hoàng Phúc ("Chúa Tau Kim Quy," "Bui Hong") was directed by first time filmmaker Lê Thanh Son, written by Johnny Trí Nguyen, Lê Thanh Son and Ho Quang Hung, produced by Jimmy Nghiêm Pham, Johnny Trí Nguyen, Veronica Ngô Thanh Vân, and executive produced by Rich Long Nguyen, Tawny Nguyen, Ryan Hoàng Hubris, Alex Võ, Carson Võ. Indomina Releasing's Vice President of Acquisitions Rob Williams and XYZ Films' Nate Bolotin negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers. The deal was announced today by Jasbinder Singh Mann, C.E.O. of Indomina Group, overseeing global operations. 

"CLASH is a heart-pounding, martial arts, shoot-em up film that brings Vietnamese action cinema to the front stage," said Singh Mann. "The film exemplifies the Indomina brand, and we are excited to showcase exceptional filmmaking coming from Vietnam."

CLASH follows Trinh (Ngô Thanh Vân), a mercenary, assigned to recover a stolen hard drive containing codes to Vietnam's first satellite, the VINASAT.1. She creates an ensemble of specialists, Quan (Johnny Trí Nguyen) and Cang (Lâm Minh Thang), to regain control of the hard drive before it is sold to the Chinese Triad. Lies and betrayal unfold as Trinh uncovers the truth behind her squad. Who can she trust?

CLASH opened in Vietnam with great box office success, earning over $1 Million U.S., making it the country's highest grossing film in 2009. The film was released under the title "Bayrong" in Vietnam.
