Industrial Info Highlights Project Spending Outlook for Coal-Fired Power Plants at Coal-Gen 2008 in Louisville, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - August 13, 2008) - Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) is one of 350 exhibitors at Coal-Gen 2008, which officially opened on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, and runs through Friday, August, 15, 2008, in Louisville, Kentucky. This will be the eighth annual Coal-Gen conference and exhibition, and roughly 4,000 people are expected to attend to discuss and learn more about the most critical issues affecting the coal-fired generation sector. Join Industrial Info Resources at booth No. 1116 and get a hands-on demonstration of our industrial market databases. Latest releases include enhancements to PECWeb, Power Tracker, Natural Gas Tracker, Refinery Tracker, Pharmaceutical Tracker, PowerCast and PetroCast.

Project spending in the coal-fueled segment of the industry remains healthy as projects move forward in new-build activity as well as in-plant projects. Industrial Info is tracking 40 new coal-fired generating units and 19,000 megawatts (MW) of capacity under construction in North America. An additional 11 units totaling 3,300 MW are still earmarked to begin construction before year's end. Beyond 2008, there are 136 coal-fired generating units and nearly 50,000 MW of capacity that are in development and planned to begin construction between 2009 and 2017. This capacity is being developed not only to meet future energy demands but also to replace capacity anticipated to be lost from units scheduled for retirement. Power producers continue with in-plant project spending dedicated to plant modernizations, refurbishments, environmental retrofits, equipment replacements, repowers and scheduled maintenance outage activity.

Globally, Industrial Info is tracking more than 700 capital and maintenance projects valued at $240 billion with future bid opportunities. Of this total, there are projects valued at more than $67 billion scheduled for kickoff during 2009.

In addition to project tracking, Industrial Info's Power Tracker offers key industry details, such as installed base and new-build generating unit information, turbine and boiler equipment details, key management contacts, scheduled and unplanned maintenance outage information and industry maps. During Coal-Gen 2008 Industrial Info will feature other niche databases, including:

-- The new Coal-Fired Power Database offers complete coal-fired power generating industry coverage, including installed base, new builds, unit outages, turbines and boiler details.

-- The Environmental Compliance Database highlights details on current and future environmental compliance projects found within all industry segments. New to the database is the inclusion of environmental controls installed as part of new-build projects.

-- GenStack is an integrated database that provides unit run-time information and emissions data for the U.S. Power Industry.

Industrial Info has also recently released the North American Coal-Fired Power Generating Plants - 7th Edition wall map, featuring locations and other key details on more than 500 coal-fired power plants and more than 100 industrial energy producer sites with on-site coal-fired generating units.
