Industrie Gastronomique Cascajares Receives Support from Government of Canada

SAINT-HYACINTHE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 10, 2011) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière–Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, today announced that the firm Industrie Gastronomique Cascajares (IGC) has been granted $128,750 in repayable funding.

"The Government of Canada is pleased to lend its support to enterprises that, like Industrie Gastronomique Cascajares, are turning the results of their research and development into new products," said Mr. Gourde.

A 2010 Trends and Innovations prize winner at the Salon International de l'Alimentation (Canada), IGC is a startup operating under the auspices of the Food Research and Development Centre in Saint-Hyacinthe, a major incubator in the agri-food sector. The company develops, produces and sells high-end, meat-based frozen dishes for the hotel and restaurant markets. The enterprise intends to use this financial assistance to set up a processing plant at its facilities in Saint-Hyacinthe's City of Biotechnology and to commercialize its products in Canada and the United States.

This funding has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program.
