Industry Report Affirms Innovative Services as Key Differentiator

Communications Service Providers Expected to Prioritize Service Delivery Investment to Match Customer Expectation

PISCATAWAY, NJ--(Marketwire - November 11, 2008) - Forecasts of the growing focus on service delivery platforms are being echoed by Telcordia, who say that Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and leading Internet sites need to provide personalised, interactive services in order to successfully differentiate themselves in the fiercely competitive market.

Telcordia, a leading global provider of telecommunications network software and services for IP, wireline, wireless, and cable, is responding to a recent report by Analysys Mason that states that intensified competition from companies such as Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Apple is at the heart of the motivation behind CSPs investing in their Service Delivery Platforms (SDPs). According to Analysys Mason, SDP spending is forecast to grow from $1.86 billion in 2007 to $4.75 billion in 2012.

A well designed SDP can enable operators to offer services that are deployed faster, personalized to the individual customer and are available when and where the customer wants it. Ultimately, SDPs enable CSPs to successfully anticipate and respond faster to what their customer wants, opening new revenue streams and tapping into new customers.

According to Analysys Mason, mobile Real-Time Charging (RTC) will grow at 24 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), recognizing the strong CSP response to being able to interact with customers in real time. Consequently, Analysys Mason predicts that spending on mobile telecom application servers spending will grow at 15 percent CAGR due to the need to deliver new services.
