The Industry's Largest Independent Distributor of Classical Music, IODA Intensifies Genre Focus With New Content and Service Partnerships

American Symphony Orchestra, Halle, New World Records and Opus Arte Join IODA's Rich Classical Catalog; New Partnerships With Specialty Classical Retailers Connect IODA Labels With Music Fans Throughout Europe

CANNES, FRANCE--(Marketwire - January 24, 2011) -  IODA, the global leader in digital distribution, marketing, and technology solutions for the independent music industry, today announced new content and retail partnerships that expand its classical music roster, which represents 15 percent of IODA's catalog and 4.5 percent of the United States classical digital market. New worldwide distribution and marketing deals with American Symphony Orchestra, Celestial Harmonies, Hallé, New World Records, Philharmonia Baroque and Opus Arte enhance IODA's world-class classical catalog. New service partnerships with Ariama and Passionato expand IODA's distribution network, making it ideal for independent classical labels and distributors. The announcement was made today at the MIDEM 2011 Conference in Cannes, France.

Classical's Digital Leader

Since 2003, IODA has cultivated a growing roster of high quality recordings from some of the most talented classical recording artists in the world. American Symphony Orchestra, Celestial Harmonies, Hallé, New World Records, Opus Arte and Philharmonia Baroque join IODA's deep catalog of classical leaders including Avie, Harmonia Mundi, Hyperion Records, London Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky, New York Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, The Sixteen Productions Ltd., Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Winter & Winter.

Always striving to bring unique and high value opportunities to its clients, IODA has played an integrated role in many industry firsts. In collaboration with IODA, the New York Philharmonic launched the first-ever classical music iTunes Pass in December 2009 with live concert recordings from the 2009-10 season with Music Director Alan Gilbert. In December 2010, IODA and the New York Philharmonic launched the second version of the Pass. Buyers can now receive digital liner notes for each release, bonus content such as Alan Gilbert's commentary from the stage, as well as lectures and talks by scholars and performers.

"The New York Philharmonic's downloads, with performances led by Alan Gilbert, help to create a greater awareness of music -- and of the Philharmonic -- and they encourage people to come to Avery Fisher Hall to enjoy the live concert experience," said Vince Ford, director of new media, NY Philharmonic. "IODA has been an important partner in achieving this goal so we are pleased to be working with them again for this season's series."
