Infinera DTN Receives BGR Diamond Technology Award

Digital ROADM Receives 4 Diamonds as a Solution "Ahead of Its Time"

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 23, 2008) - Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) announced today that the Infinera DTN has received a 4-Diamond rating in Broadband Gear Report's (BGR) 2008 Diamond Technology Reviews. This prestigious award recognizes innovative product achievements in the broadband sector.

The 4-Diamond rating denotes an "excellent product with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits." The Diamond Technology Awards are decided by a panel of independent judges including engineering executives from Bresnan Communications, Charter Communications, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, and other industry leaders.

The Infinera DTN digital ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer) leverages large-scale photonic integration technology to deliver a scalable optical transport platform that offers greater speed of installation and deployment, enhanced flexibility, and simplified operations. With transport and digital bandwidth management integrated into a single platform, the DTN digital ROADM offers greater bandwidth efficiency, supports the switching and grooming of traffic at the sub-wavelength level, and eliminates the complexities of optical layer engineering that arise in traditional optical ROADM-based networks.

"The Diamond Technology Reviews' judging panel found Infinera's DTN digital ROADM solution to be 'ahead of its time.' They gave it high marks for its ability to cost-effectively drive high-speed digital optic signaling deeper into the network," says Laura Hamilton, editor-in-chief at BGR.

The digital architecture enabled by Infinera's innovative design utilizes Bandwidth Virtualization™. With this architecture, an operator's network creates a pool of available bandwidth that can be used to deliver any service, anywhere in the network, at any time. This capability is achieved by decoupling services from the optical network layer, which dramatically increases the speed and flexibility of the network and eliminates the need for significant optical layer re-engineering when adding new services or upgrading the network.

"The Infinera Digital ROADM system has brought value to many cable providers through the scalability, flexibility and operational simplicity of Infinera's digital architecture; and we are very pleased to be honored and recognized by Broadband Gear Report and the Diamond Technology judges," said Gaylord Hart, Infinera Marketing Director for the cable sector.

Infinera will be at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo show which begins tomorrow. Infinera representatives will be at Booth #123 in Section 1 of the Exhibit Hall, and will be available to discuss Infinera products and technologies with visitors. This year's Infinera booth will feature Infinera's new line system, ILS2, and a 100 Gigabit Ethernet demo. For further details see related news release, Infinera Pushes the Optical Frontiers at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo. SCTE Cable-Tec Expo takes place from Tuesday June 24th to Friday June 27th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The Exhibit Hall opens on Wednesday at 2pm.
